Parrish - Thompson
LAGRANGE — April Suzanne Thompson and Gene Parrish were united in marriage Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Larry Withrow officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Walnut Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Thompson of Dudley are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sloan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Thompson of Mount Olive.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Parrish of LaGrange. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Parrish, the late Sally Parrish, Alma Rhee Ham and the late Alton Lee Ham.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white strapless A-line gown with metallic beaded embroidery and a low symmetrical back adorned with three rosettes.
Page Thompson Jones of Princeton, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Christel Perry of LaGrange, sister of the groom, was the bridesmaid.
Eugene Parrish was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jay Perry of LaGrange, brother-in-law of the groom, and Jared Jones of Princeton, nephew of the bride.
Madison Cottle, daughter of the bride, was the miniature bride.
Taylor Perry of LaGrange, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Trey Perry of LaGrange, nephew of the groom, was the aisle runner.
Janet and Laura Jackson, friends of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Jeff and Janet Lane, cousins of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jennifer Moye, friend of the groom, pianist, and Jason and Jamie Cox, friends of the couple, vocalists.
After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in LaGrange.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2004 gradate of Mount Olive College with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is employed with Lenoir County Public Schools.
The groom graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1992 and Wayne Community College in 1994 with an associate’s degree in mechanical, drafting and design and engineering technology. He is employed as an operations leader/technical support for DuPont.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the Garden Club of LaGrange. Steve and Connie Cox, cousins of the bride, greeted guests. Faye Radford, aunt of the groom, served the wedding cake. Peggy Wiggins, aunt of the bride, poured punch.
On Sept. 30, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Village Steakhouse. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
The bride held a manicure and pedicure party Sept. 28.
On Sept. 26, family and friends of Walnut Creek Church held a miscellaneous shower at the church.
Page Jones and Roxie Kemmerlin held a lingerie shower and bachelorette party Sept. 24 at Oliver’s Railroad Grille.
On Aug. 21, an engagement party was held at Baron and Beef of Kinston.
