Millard Dewey Page, Goldsboro, N.C., transitioned this life with his family and nurses by his side at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield Aug. 27, 2018.
Dewey was the son of the late W.D. and Myrna Page, and was born in Angier, N.C.
His brother, W.M. Page, preceded him in passing in 2011.
Dewey served as a medic in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1972, and later worked in the pharmacy at the hospital in Goldsboro for 20 years.
He was married for 56 years to the love of his life, Odette M. Page.
Dewey and Odette were stationed in Germany and France, and later settled in Goldsboro, making it their permanent home.
Odette preceded him in death in 2013.
Dewey loved God and his country, along with his community of friends.
He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, reading and serving others through his volunteer work.
He and Odette loved dogs, and throughout their marriage, they always had dog kids.
A military honors service will be held Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro, with burial Friday in the Field of Honor for Veterans at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, N.C.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Wayne County Humane Society, P.O. Box 821, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, to help homeless animals in the area.
Dewey is survived by his niece, Dr. Pam Page Carpenter and her husband, Don Carpenter, of Raleigh, NC.
The family would like to thank all the care, respect and dignity provided to Dewey by the staff and nurses at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Clayton and the caring and supportive nurses and staff at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, N.C.
