MAX GRAHAM FUTRELL

Max Graham Futrell was born Sept. 30, 1936, to Graham Cogdell Futrell and Aileen Best Futrell in the Grantham community.

Graduated from Grantham High School in 1955.

He held a degree from Missouri School of Auctioneering.

He was reared on a family farm in the Grantham community, farmed on this farm all his life.

He was also a tobacconist, traveled to several towns and states to auction tobacco.

He was an owner and operator of the Big “3” Tobacco Warehouse in Goldsboro, N.C.

Served faithfully for many years on Grantham Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of FFA, 4H, Farm Bureau, Goldsboro Tobacco Board of Trade, a Mason, Shriners and others at different times in his life.

He was a member of Selah Christian Church in his youth, and later in life St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching his crops grow and visiting the country stores to gain and give information.

He had many years of enjoying wonderful fellowship at the stores.

He was married to the love of his life, Mary Ann Johnson Futrell for 59 ½ years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Futrell; son, M.G. Futrell and wife, Theresa; grandson, Mickey Cotton; granddaughter, Megan Pate and fiance, Dexter Lawhorn; and great-granddaughter, Paiten Falgout.

His brothers, Glenn Futrell and wife, Phyllis, Lamont Futrell and wife, Frances.

His brother–in-law, Burton Johnson and wife, Judy, and nieces and nephews, Jan, Tim, Glenda, David, Burt, Angie, Chris, Lauren, Kathy, Allen, Jared and Tara.

Great-nieces and nephews, Grayson, Phillip, Lexi and Lacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Graham and Aileen Futrell Parks, Queen and Stough Johnson and Katherine Futrell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at 2:30 p,m. at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, Four Oaks.

Visitation will take place from 1 to 2:30 prior to the funeral service.

Officiating the service will be the Rev. Jim Skinner.

He will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery, Newton Grove, following the service.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, 276 St. John Church Road, Four Oaks, N.C., 27524, in his memory.
