Edward Lyles Martin Jr., 75, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
Ed was born in Greenville County, S.C., Jan. 16, 1943, to the late Edward Lyles Martin Sr. and Bernadette Mulvaney Martin.
He was a graduate of Clemson University, and was a lifelong fan of Clemson football.
Ed enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a valued employee of Kidde Aerospace in Wilson, where he worked as a contracts administrator.
Ed was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish in Goldsboro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Monsignor Michael Shagrue presiding. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Christy Bateman Martin; daughter, Theresa Quick (Scott Quinn) of Parrish, Fla.; sons, Edward Lyles Martin III (Elise) of Nova Scotia, Canada, and David Martin (Yvonne) of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, John Mark Quick, Matthew Quick, Wesley Quick and Niko Martin; and great-grandchild, Luca Quick.
He is also survived by his sister, Betty Reece (Ken) of Abbeville, S.C., and brother, Robert Francis Martin (Ubol) of Atlanta, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Community Soup Kitchen, P.O. Box 1064, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
