Mickey Gene Best, resident of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive, passed away on his 70th birthday Wednesday evening, Aug. 8, 2018, while at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
His life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held Friday, Aug. 10, at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Paul Rose and the Rev. Jerry Marshburn will officiate.
The family will be receiving friends at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, any donations to the funeral home toward funeral expenses would be appreciated by the family.
Mickey, an avid lover of horses, was a member of the Beautancus Saddle Club.
He operated Mickey's Auto Body Repair Shop.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Dixon Best of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Best Sholar and Jamie Sholar of Wallace; a granddaughter, Kelsey Sholar Quinn and husband, Cody, of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Dallas Best of Mount Olive; and a sister, Christine Best of Goldsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erman and Julia "Teen" Bell Best; brothers, Elwood and Jimmy; and sisters, Lucille and Louise.
