MARY MAGDALENE TILTON

Mary Magdalene Tilton, 68, died Wednesday afternoon at Duke University Medical Center.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey John and Gladys Smith Tilton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mary was a graduate of Barton College, and had worked part time as a domestic court advocate with The Lighthouse of Wayne County.
She had been a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Goldsboro where she had worked with the Migrant Farm Program and volunteered with The Soup Kitchen. She was a recipient of The Governors Award for Volunteerism in Wayne County.
She had recently moved to Cary to live with her sister where she attended St. Paul Episcopal Church.
Mary is survived by a brother, John Delano Tilton of Cary, and a sister Deborah Ann Tilton of Cary.
Special to her were her niece, Dr. Lisa Tracy and her nephew-in-law, Mr. Joseph Tracy, and their children, Mary Elizabeth Tracy, Anna Grace Tracy and Eva Joy Tracy, who loved and will miss their great-aunt, Mary. Also Mary's special kitty, Sunshine.
