RALPH L. VERNON
Nov. 23, 1925-June 25, 2018
Ralph Lee Vernon, 92, Warsaw resident and United States Army Veteran of World War II, passed away early Monday morning, June 25, at Warsaw Health and Rehab. Center.
Mr. Vernon was retired with West Auto Parts, was a member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church, where he had served as deacon and elder, and was a member of the Warsaw post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He had been a Boy Scout troop leader, and was a volunteer with Warsaw Fire and Rescue in years gone by.
Mr. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pigford Vernon; his parents, Edwin L. and Maude King Vernon; a sister; and three brothers.
He is survived by his four children, Melvin Vernon of Warsaw, Jenny V. Whitfield and husband, Boots, of Goldsboro, Mary Lee McKay of Newport and Debbie V. Pergerson and husband, Mitch, of Roxboro; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Hilda Miller; and a special friend, Ms. Annie Outlaw, whom God called home later the same day as Ralph.
Mr. Vernon’s life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m. in Faison Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael L. “Mickey” Whitfield.
The family will greet friends at the Warsaw Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 109 W Main St., Suite A, Clinton, N.C., 28328, or the charity of one’s choosing.
