PATRICIA HOOD THIGPEN

Patricia Hood Thigpen Springfield, Va., completed her journey home June 2, 2018, to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Patricia was born Aug. 17, 1933, in the Grantham community to the late Henry Stanton Hood and Gladys Wright Hood.
She was a graduate of Campbell University.
She was married for 48 years to the love of her life, Elton Thigpen.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a genuine friend to everyone. She went above and beyond to help wherever and whenever it was needed.
She will be remembered by her varied community and church services.
Patricia will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her. Always loving, always loved.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 1 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Patricia’s life at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be beside her husband in Wayne Memorial Park.
Patricia is survived by her children, Karen Rowan and husband, Tim, Janice McCallum, and Ron Thigpen and wife, Lisa Bachelder; grandchildren, Yaleena and Eli Rowan and Cameron and Kathryn McCallum; and two great-grandchildren, Justin Rowan and Jonathan Rowan.
She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Al Hood and wife, Olga; sister-in-law, Patty Farr; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Thigpen; son-in-law, Scott McCallum; and great-grandson Joshua Rowan.
