Earl Dwight Brock, 71, Brock's Chapel section near Mount Olive, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center Thursday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2018.
Mr. Brock is survived by his daughter, Crystal Brock Quinn with husband, Jody, of Mount Olive; his grandchildren, Zachary Quinn with companion, Ally Brown, and Meranda Quinn with companion, Brandon Strickland, and great-grandchildren, Addison and Grayson Strickland all of the Mount Olive area; and his stepmother, Nancy K. Brock of Mount Olive, along with her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Earl Brock and Thelma Winders Brock, and a stepbrother, Pete Vinson.
Dwight's early adulthood began with a tour of service with the United States Air Force, including a deployment in Vietnam.
Upon his return home, he was employed as a police officer with Mount Olive Police Department, and also served as volunteer member of Mount Olive Rescue Squad.
Eventually he left Mount Olive for Maryland, and gained employment as a truck driver.
Later, when he returned to Mount Olive, he was employed by Bob Hines Trucking Co.
His last career opportunity was that of becoming a licensed bail bondsman, and co-owning and operating, along with partner and close family friend, Mike McCall of Goldsboro, the Universal Surety Services of Kenansville.
Graveside services and inurnment will be Monday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive. Pastor Jeff Dail will officiate. Included will be military honors.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Genesis of Mount Olive and the staff of Kitty Askins for the care and support given to its loved one during his last days.
