GARLON PITTMAN

Joseph Garlon Pittman, 83, Goldsboro, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Brian Center.

Garlon was born in Nash County Sept. 18, 1934, to the late Willie and Lucy Rose Pittman.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Garlon was a valued employee of Sears in Goldsboro, and retired after 35 years of service.

He was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church.

Garlon was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them.

A service to celebrate Garlon's life will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Debbie Matthis and Dr. Dennis Draper officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro with military honors.

Garlon is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Canady Pittman; sons, Richard Pittman and wife, Donna, of Farmville, Stewart Pittman and wife, Kellie, of Charlotte and Joseph Pittman and fianceé, Rebekah, of Goldsboro; brother, Elbert Pittman of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Karie Pittman Nunn (Jay), Gabbie Pittman Kaplan (Will), Hannah Pittman, Matthew Pittman, Luke Pittman and Davis Pittman.

In addition to his parents, Garlon was preceded in death by his brother, Wellon Pittman.
