E. WARREN ROLLINS

Elwood Warren Rollins, 82, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Wayne County Oct. 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Clifton Warren Rollins and Vida Hadnott Rollins.

Warren was a 1953 graduate of Goldsboro High School.

He was a member of Goldmasquers and several other mixed choirs.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

One who always could be found hard at work, Warren was a distributor for the News and Observer, was owner and operator of Cabbage Patch Furniture Store and later worked with Roger Furniture, Down East Furniture and Bobby Denning Furniture.

He also worked part-time with Hill's Tire and Auto Service.

When he was not working, he could often be found on one of the local area golf courses.

Warren was a longtime member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate Warren's life will be held Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike McAuley and the Rev. Fred Crank officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.

Warren is survived by his wife, Jean Wilkins Rollins; daughter, Vida Kay Rollins; sons, Gary Rollins and Steve Rollins; brother, Clay Rollins; sisters, Amy Bowyer, Elza Holliday and Alyene Pollock; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Allen Rollins; brother, Haywood Rollins; and stepmother, Flora Rollins.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times, at the home.

Warren's family would like to extend a special thank you to family members, neighbors, church family, Kindred at Home Care, Community Home Care and Hospice, Dr. Dugom and his staff and Wayne County EMS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Victory Free Will Baptist Church-Building Fund, 1806 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
