Stephen Douglas Ellis, 72, passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2017, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Born May 12, 1945, in Wayne County, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Brantley and Virginia Earp Ellis.
Also preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Tyndall Ellis; brothers, John B. Ellis, Edward B. Ellis, William H. Ellis, Robert W. Ellis, Charles B. Ellis, Thomas B. Ellis and Richard B. Ellis; and sister Carolyn E. Munn.
He is survived by his sons, Gary (Julie) and Kevin (Karen) both of Rocky Mount, and four grandchildren, who will surely miss "Papa," Brandi, Zachary (Gary), Stephen and Hillary (Kevin).
Also, brothers, Jerry S. Ellis (Mickey) of Birmingham, Ala., and Larry G. Ellis of Florida, and a sister, Dorothy E. Gower of Las Vegas, Nev.
Services will be Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at 2:30 p.m., with pastor Dave Grogan and pastor Carl Gibbs, at Peoples Fellowship Baptist Church, 11972 N.C. 97 East, Rocky Mount.
Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the service and other times at the home.
Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
