MAJ. WILLIAM EDWARD KELLY

Maj. William Edward Kelly, United States Air Force retired, 89, Durham, passed away Dec. 4, 2017.
William began his military career by enlisting in the United States Army at the age of 17. He attained the rank of major in the Air Force before retiring after 26 years of service. William's time in the service took him all over the world.
Following his military career, William went on to work in security for North Carolina's State Information Technology Services before retiring.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Kelly; children, David Kelly (Anne Christy), Bill Kelly (Judy), Nancy Faltinowski (Gary) and Susan Hales (David); grandchildren, Thad Kelly, Brian Kelly (Lauren Werber), Christine Kelly (Adam Tobin), Jennifer Atwell (Chris), Chris Jones, Amanda Jones, Guy Faltinowski (Sondra), Adam Faltinowski (Theresa), Kelli Wall (Julian), Casey Evans (Kevin) and Jesse Hales; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
A visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh, N.C. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Raleigh, N.C.
