Theron David Bennett Mattice, 26, Dudley, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at his home.
Theron was born in Japan on March 14, 1991, to Ruth Ann Bennett Mattice of Michigan and the late Lee Granger Mattice III.
He was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. Theron lived his dream proudly serving in the infantry of the United States Marine Corps. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, and his patriotism. Theron protected his country and her allies on multiple deployments during Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan. Theron's valor and skill were recognized with numerous decorations. He will also be remembered for his love of swimming, his dog but most of all for his love of family.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with military honors.
In addition to his mother, Theron is survived by sister, Kaitlin Rose Mattice; grandparents, Lee Granger Mattice Jr. and Rosemary Cronin-Mattice; and his children, Caison Gabriel Mattice and Ivy Skye Mattice. He is also survived by his special K-9 friend, Kazi, who was with him until the end.
