Judith Sing Murphy, 72, Goldsboro, passed away early Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Wilson Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Judith was born in Portsmouth, Va., Jan. 13, 1945, to the late Alton Thomas Sing and Ruth Vivian Beale Sing.
She had worked for many years as a licensed customer service representative with several insurance companies.
Judith will be remembered for her love of shopping, knitting, art and horses, and doting on her grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Judith's life will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Harry officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
Judith is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert Murphy Jr.; children, Jennifer Holt and husband, Warren, of Goldsboro, Jeffrey Layden of Charleston, S.C., Phaedra Medus and husband, David, of Goldsboro, Jennifer Federeau of Lansing, Mich., and Heather Hammond and husband, Steve, of Charlotte, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Dylan Hammond, Kaitlynn Hammond, Charles Federeau, Jason Holt, Ryan Holt, Leila Medus, Cierra Daughtry and Charlotte Holt; and three great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother, Tom Sing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla., 33607.
