REMUS D. LEE

Remus Delano Lee, 84, of Kinston peacefully passed away with his family by his side at his home on Aug. 29, 2017.
Remus was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Duplin County to the late Paul Lee and Essie Harper Lee. Remus retired from B & H Candy Company, where he worked 37 years. A man of great faith and integrity, Remus worshiped at Neuse Baptist Church.
Remus was honest and trustworthy, his word was his bond. Never one to speak a harsh word, he always looked for the best in others. He never sought the spotlight and took great pride in quietly helping others in need. Life for Remus revolved around his faith and family. His life and positive attitude have set an example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will guide them. A longtime Mason, Remus was a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge, Kinston and a former member of the North Lenoir Volunteer Fire Department.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Remus Lee will be held Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. A private family committal service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Remus is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shelby Sutton Lee; two sons, Gregory Allen Lee and wife, Tammy, and Gary Michael Lee and wife, Beth; four grandchildren, Becca Taylor and husband, Jacob, Hannah Rosinski and husband, Nickoli, Lindsay Johnson and husband, B.J., and Laura Beth Lee; four great-grandchildren, Alivia, Eva Harper, Ryan and Chandler. The Lee family are eagerly awaiting the birth of a fifth great-grandchild, Charlotte, due in November. In addition to his parents, Remus was preceded in death by three siblings, Morris Paul Lee, Irene Kornegay and Geraldine Kornegay.
