John Robert Brown, 59, died suddenly on Monday. Born in Tazewell, Va., he was the son of the late Warren Neal Brown and Helen Hackworth Brown.
He was employed with Wayne County as an animal control officer and was retired as the assistant chief of the Tazewell County Fire and Rescue.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the Park East Church of God with Bishop Karl Bartlett and Pastor J. Wesley Jarman officiating. The family will greet friends at the church immediately following the service and at other times at the home. An additional service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date in Tazewell, Va.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Tabitha Brown; three sons, Robert Craig Brown and wife, Renee, Joshua C. Brown and wife, Dena, Joshua Ashley and wife, Jordan; a sister, Leeta Brown Tabor; a niece, Carri Ann Curry; the light of his life was his eight grandchildren, Briona, Dakotah, Kydalynn, Helenah, Brooklyn, Kayla, Kori and Kinzlee; and his beloved dog, Maggie.
