Lonnie Lyndall Farmer Jr., 72, beloved father, grandfather and brother, died at his home in Grifton, N.C., Sunday, May 28, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Edna Farmer of Shreveport, La.
Lonnie was an incredibly talented man.
He will be remembered by his daughters for his beautiful singing voice, ability to laugh "jingle bells" and endless capacity for loving his family.
He was gifted by hands that could build anything and a mind that could weave a tale from a memory and have loved ones laughing uncontrollably.
Lonnie retired as a master sergeant from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, much of which was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, spent many years as a general contractor and was most recently employed as a horticulture instructor with Lenoir Community College.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters, Lisa Farmer Isenhour of Wilmington, N.C., Teri Moylan along with her husband, Matthew, of Wilmington, N.C., and Abbigale Farmer of Grifton, N.C.
He is also survived by his grandsons, Jonah Moylan of Wilmington, N.C., and Waylon Cash Farmer of Grifton, N.C.; his two sisters, Edna Cervantes and Becky Cannon both of Shreveport, La.; his stepdaughter, Joanne Bailey and her children, Kaia and Logan Bailey, all of Englehard, N.C.; and a host of other family and friends.
He was a Mason, initiated Jan. 3, 1989, passed Feb. 9, 1989, and raised March 7, 1989.
Funeral service will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Friday, June 9, at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends immediately following at Walnut Creek Country Club.
