Roger William Buchanan, 82, Pikeville, died Tuesday at Wayne UNC Health Care with his wife by his side.
Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro. Committal will follow at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 1080 Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville. The Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Christian Powell will officiate.
A visitation will be held in the fellowship hall prior to the service from 1 to 2:15 p.m.
Surviving are his wife, Shelba Bunn Buchanan; sons, Roger Woodrow "Woody" Buchanan (Lisa) of Owatonna, Minn., William Gregory "Greg" Buchanan (Laurie) of King George, Va., and Thomas Kurt Buchanan (Kathy) of Fredericksburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Royce, Darien, Collin, Nicholas, Natalie and Kallie Buchanan; two stepgrandchildren, Desiree and Jon Snyder; brothers, George Buchanan of Colorado Springs, Colo., Don Buchanan of Bellingham, Wash., and Dale Buchanan of Sherman, Texas; and sisters, Carol Innes of Murray, Ky., and Ruth Buchanan of McKinney, Texas.
He was born in Pitteville, Wisc., and was a native of Tomahawk, Wisc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalie Louise Orcutt Buchanan and William Henry Buchanan, and a sister, Marie Johnson.
He was a professor at Bob Jones University and an administrator at Pillsbury College and Mount Olive University.
He started and ended his career as a public school music teacher in Illinois and North Carolina, respectively.
