MR. DENNIS JEROME SYKES

Mr. Dennis Jerome Sykes, 66, 208 E. Boundary St., LaGrange, N.C., departed his earthly life Monday, April 10, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.
Dennis was born in Lenoir County, N.C., Jan. 11, 1951.
He was born to the late Mr. Enis Sykes and Mrs. Sarah Allen-Sykes.
Dennis was educated in the Lenoir County Public School System. He attended Wayne Community College, where he earned his AA degree.
During Mr. Sykes' working years, he was employed with the AAR Cargo System in Goldsboro, N.C., where he served as a machine operator.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, April 15, 2017, at noon in St. Mary Free Will Baptist Church, 311 Arba-Jason Road, LaGrange, N.C. Pastor Antonio Blow will officiate.
Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 395 W. James St., LaGrange, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, April 14, 2017, in Britt Funeral Home Memorial chapel, 414 E. Washington St., LaGrange, N.C., from 4 to 7 p.m.
Brother Dennis Sykes leaves a legacy of love and memories to his brother, Ennis A. Sykes and his wife, Anita, of LaGrange, N.C.; his two sisters, Emma S. Phillips of Chesapeake, Va., and Alice S. Lampley and her husband, Floyd, of West Orange, N.J.; his two aunts, Lola Allen and Glennie Allen both of LaGrange, N.C.; his two nieces, Alicia Lampley Douglas and husband, Tajiri, and Ennicia D. Sykes; his five nephews, Phelan Phillips, Julian D. Sykes, Tharoy Phillips Jr., Terrence F. Lampley and Ennis A. Sykes Jr. and wife, Tammy; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other close relatives and friends.
Saturday, April 15, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ennis A. Sykes, 104 Willow Pond Drive, LaGrange, N.C., at 10:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 E. Washington St., LaGrange, N.C., beginning Friday, April 14, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
