NELSON RAY ROLLINS

The Rev. Nelson Ray Rollins, 67, Pikeville, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
Nelson was born in Wayne County Sept. 3, 1949, to the late Rev. Robert N. Rollins and Hilda Mae Price Rollins.
Following his retirement from the town of Fremont, he was ordained by the Western Conference of Original Free Will Baptists. Nelson was a member of Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church.
He proudly served our country in the United States Army, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
A service to celebrate Nelson's life will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sherman Dilley and the Rev. Chris Singleton officiating. Interment will follow the service at 2 p.m. in Eastern North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
The family will greet friends Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 105 Hawkins Drive, Pikeville.
Nelson is survived by his daughter, Marci Rollins-Smart and husband, Kelley, of Goldsboro; son, Nelson Rollins and wife, Sheila, of Goldsboro; and grandchildren, Austin, Andruw and Caiden Rollins and Kelsie Smart.
He is also survived by his siblings, RNet Barton, James Rollins, Linwood Rollins, Arminta Evelyn Harrell, Gwen Kennedy and Jerome Rollins, and the mother of his children, Deborah Rollins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rev. Robert Rollins and Hilda Price Rollins Endowment for the University of Mount Olive, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C., 28365, or Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 1080 Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
