ROY LEE CAVENAUGH

Roy Lee Cavenaugh, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, March 20, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
The family will receive friends prior to service from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Cavenaugh was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Wayne County to the late Jessie and Effie Jernigan Cavenaugh.
He was an avid musician, and loved southern gospel music.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Cavenaugh and boyfriend, Cliff Elps, of Goldsboro, Phyllis Cavenaugh of Goldsboro and Lesley Cavenaugh and companion, Tim, of Fremont; son, Roy Cavenaugh Jr. of Pikeville; son-in-law, the Rev. Wayne Goff; seven grandchildren, Roy Cavenaugh, Derrick Cavenaugh, Chris Grimes and wife, Heather, Brooks Rhodes and wife, Cheri, Thomas Russell and girlfriend, Cristina, Donna Faye Luper and husband, David, and Michael Wayne Goff and girlfriend, Katie; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Janice Cavenaugh; daughter, Faye Goff; two brothers; and six sisters.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
