LEROY WORRELL
March 2, 1932-March 17, 2017
Leroy Worrell, 85, Goldsboro, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Leroy was born in Wayne County on March 2, 1932 to the late Charlie and Nora Eason Worrell. He has been married for 58 years to his wife, Glennie Anderson Worrell.
Leroy was a valued employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 26 years. While in retirement, he continued to enjoy putting puzzles together, keeping his yard beautiful, and most of all fixing things for others, as he was known as "Mr. Fix It" by many. He had a lasting impact on everyone he met and will be dearly missed. Leroy's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and telling his special stories.
A service to celebrate Leroy's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Smith and his niece, Carrie Hardin, officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
In addition to his wife, Leroy is survived by his sons, Timothy Lee Worrell and wife, Lynette, of Goldsboro, and Jeffrey Glenn Worrell of Pikeville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dillon Worrell, and Kayla Worrell and fiancé, Anthony; a great-grandchild, Brody Dillon Worrell; and his faithful K-9 friend, Roxie. He is also survived by his sisters, Annie W. Smith of Goldsboro, Joyce W. Ganus and husband, Robert, of Raleigh, Linda W. Ethridge and husband, Leonard, of Goldsboro and Nora Janet W. Thompson and husband, Luby, of LaGrange; brother, Leonard J. Worrell of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald "Bud" Worrell and Clarence Edward "Pig" Worrell; and sister, Luellen Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534 or to Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
