Johnny Alcie "J.A." Carter, 63, resident of Faison, passed away early Thursday, March 2, at Vidant Duplin Hospital.
Graveside rites will be Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at Faison Cemetery, with his uncle, the Rev. J.C. Millard, officiating.
Friends and family are being received at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be presented to Faison Bible Holiness Church, c/o Joseph Millard, P.O. Box 201, Faison, N.C., 28341.
Mr. Carter was retired from Jimmy Robinson Trucking Co., where he had been a dispatcher.
He was the son of the late William Joseph Carter and Ruby Millard Carter.
A brother, Paul Carter, also preceded him in death.
He was a member of Faison Bible Holiness Church, and had been a volunteer with Calypso Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Nell Carter; daughters, Sasha Campbell of Texas and Melissa Carter with Dustin Holland of Calypso; son, Michael Alphin and wife, Kim, of LaGrange; stepchildren, Becky Kornegay of Warsaw, Thomas Kornegay and wife, Tammy, of Clinton and Frankie Kornegay of Kenansville; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Hewett and husband, Colles, of Clinton and Betty Tyndall and husband, Dennis, of Pink Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
