Betty Boykin Joyner, 79, passed away Thursday at her home.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday, March 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. in Raleigh Memorial Park of Raleigh, N.C.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. and immediately following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
Betty was born in Wilson County to the late William Hillard Boykin and Jennie Daphne Boykin.
She was married for 55 years to Garland Delendo Joyner, who preceded her in death Jan. 19, 2010.
She owned and operated Joyner Rentals in Goldsboro.
Betty loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.
She also loved the outdoors, and would always enjoy the opportunity to go fishing with her family, especially with her sister, Mary.
Betty is survived by her son, Billy Delendo Joyner of Goldsboro; her grandsons, Jeremy Delendo Joyner and wife, Ashley, and Garrett Delendo Joyner; great-grandsons, Jonah Delendo Joyner and Atticus Thomas Joyner; her sister, Mary Addie Boykin Strickland and husband, John; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey Jeanette Joyner; a granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Joyner; and a brother, Billy Ray Boykin.
