NORMA LEE HOWELL SMITH

Norma Lee Howell Smith, 92, Hood Swamp community, was called home Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord.
Norma was born in Wayne County Nov. 17, 1924, to the late Norman and Sudie Thomas Howell. She was married to the late Edward Lee Smith.
Norma loved Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.
She was the kindest and most loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. Norma will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Norma's life in the chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Norma is survived by her son, George Norman Smith and wife, Laura, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Tania Thompson, Pam Gray, Stacy Savage and Steve Smith; a stepgrandson, Curtis Howell; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother, George Howell of Goldsboro; sister, Lillian Rose of Goldsboro; and special friends, Mary Pelt and Edna Smith, who was her neighbor for 60 years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Prillwitz, Irene Hill, Grace Carter, Joyce Baxley, Polly Shephard and Susan Barwick.
Memorials may be given to Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534. The family requests no flowers please.
In addition to the visitation time at the funeral home, the family will receive friends at the home, 1302 Hood Swamp Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
