JOHN IRVIN VAUSE

John Irvin Vause, 93, Kinston, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at UNC Lenoir Healthcare.
"Jack" was a lifelong farmer in Lenoir County.
He was active in Southwest Christian Church, where he served as treasurer for more than 30 years and also in his community where he lived his entire life.
John was respected and loved by all who knew him.
As a World War II veteran, he served his country in the United States Army Air Corps.
Jack loved his wife of 73 years and his family. He especially loved, and enjoyed seeing, his grandchildren grow up and spending time with each one.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Kenneth Vause and Gladys Vause, and sister, Gladys Vause Williams.
John is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jarman Vause of the home; sons, John Irvin Vause Jr. and wife, Judy, of Pikeville, Kenneth Darden Vause and wife, Gale, of Kinston and Roland Franklin Vause and wife, Deborah, of Newport News, Va.; grandchildren, David Vause and wife, Alison, Karen Vause Smith and husband, James, Candace Vause Pate and husband, Kris, Shannon Powell and husband, John, Mary Noble Volak Vause and husband, George, and Rebecca Vause Gresham and husband, Tom; great-grandchildren, Landon, Casey, Nicholas, Kendle, Leyton, Greyson, Dylan, Charlotte and Dominic; and special healthcare companion, Gwen Edgeston.
Visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held following visitation at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Doug Stokes and the Rev. Wayne Lee officiating. Graveside service will be held following the funeral service at Westview Cemetery.
