EDITH JEAN JERNIGAN GODBOLD

Mrs. Edith Jean Jernigan Godbold, 83, 180 Southwood Drive, Clinton, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 12, 2017, at Southwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Clinton Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan officiating.
Born Dec. 31, 1933, in Wayne County, Mrs. Godbold was the daughter of the late Alex Jernigan and Sallie Capps Jernigan, and widow to Mr. Cleveland H. Godbold Sr.
She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, and a retired employee with Clinton City Schools.
She is survived by her son, Jack G. Godbold and wife, Lois, of Bladenboro; stepson, Cleveland Godbold Jr. and wife, Anna, of Swansboro; two sisters, Alice Berigtold of Baltimore, Md., and Margaret "Susie" Williams of Newton Grove; and one brother, Jerry Jernigan of Maryland.
She also had three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Ray, Billy and Ed Jernigan, and three sisters: Lucille Lammers, Ola Mae Bryan and Polly Kennedy.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
