Betty Lou R. Murphy, 77, 201 Grimes Road, Faison, N.C., died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Goshen New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church of Faison, N.C., with the Rev. Steven King and the Rev. Stanley King officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery of Newton Grove, N.C.
Mrs. Murphy began her nursing career in 1960 with Sampson Memorial Hospital, and with Dr. John Nance for more than 10 years.
Survivors include husband, Clayton S. Murphy of Clinton, N.C.; son, Jeffrey Clayton Murphy of Clinton. N.C.; daughter, Joy Murphy Thornton (Kenneth) of Newton Grove, N.C.; grandchildren, Georgia T. Perry (Matthew) and Rachel Thornton; great-grandson, Brycen Perry; brother, Harold Raynor of Clinton, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Martha Raynor of Clinton, N.C.
She was preceded in death by father, Lloyd Austin Raynor; mother, Julia Kathleen Howell Raynor; and brother, Charles Raynor.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
