VIOLET ROSE SHANLE

Violet Rose Shanle, Rosewood, N.C., 77, died peacefully Jan. 25, 2017, surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was born to parents, Theodore and Clara Leigh Mitchell, Oct. 12, 1939, in Goldsboro, N.C.

Rose was filled with love and compassion for others, and would share the love of Christ with anyone she met. She was a prayer warrior and a faithful member of Goldsboro Worship Center for more than 50 years.

She was devoted to her family, and would offer a warm hug and smile to everyone. She cared deeply for others, and gave unselfishly of herself to those in need with a heart full of love. Her greatest wish was for her children to join her in heaven.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Fritz "Bill" Shanle, whom she married July 16, 1957; sisters, Edna Hood and Jacqueline Walters (Robert Walters); daughters, Angela Morlock, Sandra Colgan and Loretta Humbert "W.C."; and son, Gary Shanle (Diana).

She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Mandi Butler, Jimmie Wiggins, Jennifer Wiggins, Jeremy Morlock, Joshua Morlock, Donna Baldwin, Kevin Shanle, and Mark Clark, and honorary grandchild, Julie Andrews.

She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Gaynell M. Potter.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Jan. 29, at 3:30 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center, with pastor Danny Johnson officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.

Internment will be Monday, Jan. 30, at noon at Evergreen Cemetery in Princeton.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Howell Funeral Home and Crematory.
