Jane Kirby Phillips, 81, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
A service remembering the life of Jane will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bob Barton officiating.
Jane was born in Germantown, Pa., Aug. 31, 1935, to the late George Kirby and Jeannie Smith Kirby.
She was married to the late retired Col. and Dr. Homer L. Phillips for 52 years, and was a proud military wife.
Jane was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the church choir.
She was a member of the Officer's Wives Club, and was an avid bridge player.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Sandra Jean Phillips Duguid and husband, David, of Cary; sons, William C. Phillips and wife, Terri, of Sumter, S.C., Glenn E. Phillips of Fort Worth, Texas, and Steven M. Phillips of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Christian Phillips, Katie Phillips, Dawson Duguid, Dylan Duguid and Devin Duguid; and her extended family in West Virginia and the United Kingdom.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Phillips.
The family will receive friends in McChesney Hall at First Presbyterian Church following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Jane's memory to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
