Jannette "Jan" Howell Peeler, 74, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Jan was born in Wayne County April 11, 1942, to the late Robert J. Howell Sr. and Elma Hare Howell.
She owned and operated Way-Len Antique Shop at the Wayne/Lenoir county line for many years.
Jan loved Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant.
She was also a member of Berkeley Civitan Club, where she served as president, and was awarded Civitan of the Year Award.
Jan had a large extended circle of family and friends, and they were all very special to her.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating her life at 3 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Barry House officiating. Interment will be Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at noon in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Jan is survived by her husband of more 40 years, D.C. Peeler; daughter, Dana Jones of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Ty Jones; and sisters, Annette H. Platt, Lorraine "Phrates" Williams and Theresa Hare.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert J. Howell Jr. and Cooper Howell.
