ROBERT PELLETIER JR.

March 14, 1934-Jan. 2, 2017

Robert “Bud” Pelletier Jr., 82, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Bud was born March 14, 1934, in Lenoir County to the late Robert Pelletier and Rose Lee Burroughs Pelletier.

Bud’s wife of 53 years, Linda Quinn Pelletier, preceded him in death Aug. 4, 2010.

A true public servant and one who only knew hard work, Bud proudly served his community as an officer with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Department and later with the LaGrange Police Department, where he served as police chief for 15 years.

His fascination with working on cars led to the establishment of Pelletier’s Body Shop.

Bud was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. Known as “The Candyman” at church, Bud had a way of bringing a smile to both young and old.

Bud had a deep passion for the outdoors and fishing. He was most happy when spending time at Kerr Lake with Linda, and nothing was more pleasing than the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size.

Bud enjoyed Sunday afternoons watching the race, and was happiest during the period where Dale Earnhardt ruled NASCAR.

A service to celebrate and honor Bud’s life will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with pastor Gerald Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Bud is survived by two sons, Johnny Pelletier and wife, Wanda, and Jeff Pelletier and wife, Michelle; four grandchildren, Brad Pelletier and his companion, Jaime, Jennifer Pelletier, Grant Sanderson and wife, Connie, and Ashleigh Pelletier; one great-grandchild, Leo Pelletier; five siblings, Frances Lee, Janet Burkette and husband, Dallas, Annette Vandiford, Jake Pelletier and wife, Betty, and Myrtle Harrison and husband, Jack; along with his faithful canine companions, Smoke and Clara Bell.

Bud was also preceded in death by two siblings, Roger Pelletier and Dorothy Wade.

Bud’s family will receive friends Thursday following the graveside committal service and at other times, the family will be at the home.
