TED A. PFENNING

Ted A. Pfenning, 84, of 7220 Dime Drive, Raleigh, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Universal Health Care.

A native of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Ted was born to Harvey J. and Ruth Gilbert Pfenning on Nov. 30, 1931. He graduated from Blume High in 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean War in both Japan and Korea with the Military Police.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane Koenig Pfenning, son, Tim and wife, Betsy of Raleigh, daughter, Amy and husband, Robert Ponton of Simpsonville, S.C., grandsons, Andrew and Everett Ponton and granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Ponton. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

After graduating from International Business College, Fort Wayne, Ind., he began his professional career with Allied Mills Inc. as plant accountant at a facility in Greenville, Ohio.

Over the next 23 years he accepted plant manager positions, with transfers to six different states that concluded in Raleigh, N.C., where he later retired.

He came out of retirement to accept a position as unit financial officer with Hevi-Duty Electric in Goldsboro, N.C.

His final end of career move was with Athol Mfg., Butner, N.C., as VP-Finance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said on Friday, Nov. 25, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Raleigh Road, Apex, N.C., where Ted was a member and served as Eucharistic Minister.

Burial will follow in the Columbarium on church property.

Family and friends may greet the family at the church 45 minutes before the service. A reception will follow at the home.
