PAUL JOHNSON

Paul Johnson, 91, passed on Saturday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by his family.
Paul was born in Wayne County on May 21, 1925, one of eight children, to the late Richard I. Johnson and Hattie Bass Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Honor Lee Johnson. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired as a lineman with Carolina Power and Light Company after 33 years of service. Paul was a member of Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Forsythe officiating. The family will greet friends Wednesday following the service at the funeral home and other times at his home. Interment will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Paul is survived by his son, Dennis P. Johnson and wife, Deborah of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Ryan Smith (Jennifer) of Goldsboro, Christopher Hux (Esmer) of Texas, Jason Hux (Tammy) of Ohio and Patrick Hux (Ashley) of Goldsboro; and nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Hux, Sydney Hux, Meagan Hux, Christopher Hill, Zoe Hux, Anna Hux, Joseph Hux, Kailynn Hux and Owen Smith.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita J. Smith.
