George Robert "Bobby" Denning, 78, died Wednesday at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late George Denning and Annie Pearl Denning.
Bobby was the owner and president of Bobby Denning Inc. and Bobby Denning Properties LLC.
He was a member of Pleasant Union Christian Church and the Bobby Denning Grange, and a former board member on the University of Mount Olive Foundation.
A service to celebrate the life of Bobby Denning will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Kornegay Arena, located at the University of Mount Olive, with the Rev. Kevin Haynes and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Bobby is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Annie Sue Denning; the loving daddy to three daughters, Donna Gail Gainey, Paula D. Edwards and husband, David, and Sonya Gwen Denning all of Mount Olive; five grandchildren, Kenny Grady and his wife, Ashley, Bobbi C. Jones and husband, Jonathan, William David Edwards and wife, Stephanie, Taylor Gainey and Tyler Gainey; three great-grandchildren, Bryson Jones, Eli Jones and Channing Grady; and a nephew, George Lynch and wife, Cherise, of Raleigh.
