Richard Walter Tyler, 83, died Monday morning at Genesis Healthcare of Mount Olive.
He was born in Sayre, Pa., to the late Ralph and Evelyn Purdy Tyler, and was married to Aurore N. Tyler.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service at the grave.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Tyler Jr. and wife, Janice; a daughter, Marianne Nelson; two stepdaughters, Brigitte Jacob and husband, Stephen, and Stacey Horning and husband, Michael; eight grandchildren, Richard "Trey" Tyler III, Matthew Nelson, Sean Nelson, Joshua Ham, Zachary and wife, Alyssa Marshall, Alexandra Marshall, Victoria Marshall and Caroline Marshall; and one great-granddaughter, Lillian.
