RAYMOND B. HAYWOOD

July 9, 1937-Oct. 21, 2016

Raymond B. Haywood, 79, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Willow Creek.

Raymond was born in Robeson County July 9, 1937, to the late McCoy Garland Haywood and Willie Mae Bass Haywood.

He had worked as an electrician with AC Electric in Newport News, Va.

Raymond was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life; he lived to work.

He had a huge heart, always giving and reaching out to others.

Raymond loved square dancing and gardening, but most will remember the way he would make people laugh with a good practical joke.

After moving to Goldsboro, Raymond enjoyed the fellowship at Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating his life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Doug Radford officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Raymond is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Lynda Radford Haywood; his sons and their families, Johnny Haywood, Bryant Haywood and Kenneth Haywood, all of California; and his sister, Julise Townsend of Hampton, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd "Buddy" Haywood, and sister, Mary Prevatte.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 2127 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
