EDWIN R. "BUD" BEST

Edwin Ray "Bud" Best, 90, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at his home.
Bud was born in Wayne County, N.C., July 1, 1926, to the late Ben W. Best and Margaret Edgerton Best.
He was married to Eva "Duck" Sauls Best, who preceded him in death Dec. 7, 2005.
Bud had worked as a warehouse supervisor for 35 years with Sears.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Golden K Kiwanis Club.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Jason Stoeber officiating.
The family will greet friends Sunday following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of Donald and Vikki Mercer.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Vikki Best Mercer and husband, Donald, of Goldsboro and Barbara Best Dunn of Princeton, N.J.; his granddaughter, Kate Mercer Leahy and husband, Sean, of Clayton; a great-granddaughter, Margaret McKenna "Maggie" Leahy; sister-in-law, Patsy Sauls White of Goldsboro; brother-in-law, J. Arnold Chestnut of Princeton; and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bud was preceded in death by his brother, William L. Best.
