JAMES ALLEN VINSON III

James Allen Vinson III died Friday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C.
A native and lifelong resident of Goldsboro, Jim was born to James Allen Vinson Jr. and Myrtle Musgrave Vinson April 10, 1945.
He was educated in the Goldsboro City Schools.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1968, he attended the University of North Carolina School of Law, graduating in 1971.
He practiced law in Goldsboro for 45 years, specializing in real estate law.
Jim was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was baptized by James McChesney in 1945, and where he served as both a deacon and an elder.
Jim loved, in this order, his family, his friends, his Park Avenue homeplace, where he was born and lived until his death, and his plants.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Barden presiding.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Fonvielle Vinson; daughters, Caroline Carr (Brad) and Anna Sevier (Tommy) of Raleigh; and three grandsons, William and Baker Carr and Thomas Sevier.
The family will receive friends at the home Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
