PATSY CREECH GURLEY
Oct. 9, 1935-Aug. 16, 2016
Patsy Creech Gurley, 80, Goldsboro, was called home Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord while surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Patsy was born in Wayne County Oct. 9, 1935, to the late Patrick and Elizabeth Turnage Creech. She was married to the late Billy Franklin Gurley.
Patsy retired as the assistant clerk of court for Wayne County after working 20 years with the clerk of court, and previously had worked with the Wayne County Register of Deeds for 15 years.
Since 1972, Patsy had been a member of the American Business Women's Association in Goldsboro, where she had served as president, vice president and corresponding secretary, and chaired and served on the ABWA scholarship committee, as well as serving on the publicity committee. ABWA awarded Patsy the Woman of the Year Award in 1977.
Most importantly, Patsy loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God's word. She was a longtime member of Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Her contagious smile and outgoing personality broke down barriers and opened doors to an exciting and fulfilled life.
Throughout her life, Patsy lived her life with resiliency and a love for life. She faced her obstacles with grace and dignity and with an abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She could light up a room with her joyous personality and radiant smile.
She was an amazing mother and grandmother. Anyone who knew her, knew she could make friends with anyone, and was a kind and loving person to all she met. Patsy was blessed to have so many loyal lifelong friends to share the wonderful memories and experiences with over the years.
Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed.
A service celebrating Patsy's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Heath and the Rev. Bill Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Angie Gurley of Pikeville; son, Brent Gurley and wife, Tammy, of LaGrange; daughter-in-law, Laura Gurley of LaGrange; sister, Christine Creech Smith of Pikeville; and brother, Jimmy Garland Creech of Goldsboro.
