Mrs. Jim Hazel Roberts Stroud, known to some as Jimmie, resident of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive, passed away early Thursday morning, Aug. 4, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was 89 years old.
She was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church, and had operated Stroud's Grocery for a span of 19 years.
She was the daughter of the late Ned and Margaret Joyner Roberts, and wife of James Randolph Stroud, all of whom preceded her in death, as did two sisters, Flora Ann Roberts Watson and Nancy Sue Roberts Kornegay.
She is survived by two sons, James Edward Stroud and wife, Jo Ann, of Kaplan, La., and Randy Stroud of Mount Olive; three daughters, Mary Ann Ralph and husband, Joe, and Margaret Elaine Kornegay and husband, Dennis, all of Mount Olive, and Debra Jean Bradshaw and husband, Donnie, of Calypso; a sister, Peggy Roberts Quinn of Mount Olive; a brother, Preston Royall and wife, Thelma, of Mount Olive; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 14 stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Friday night, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at other times, at the residence of Joe and Ann Ralph.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Susan Wells, followed by burial in Roberts Family Cemetery.
