Lib was born in Wayne County Dec. 7, 1931, to the late L.R. and Mildred Benton Holland.
She was married to the late Vernon Davis for 46 years and the late Jack Whiteside for 14 years.
Lib had worked with Woolworth's in Goldsboro, and was a volunteer at Wayne Memorial Hospital for many years.
She enjoyed life and spending time with her family, friends and dog, Sissie. However, her greatest joy was when she was able to talk about God and work with the Women's Ministry at the churches she attended.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Lib's life at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Ronnie Heath and the Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Lib is survived by her son, Billy Davis and wife, Glenda; grandchildren, Michael Galloway and Daniel Ray; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is also survived by her stepchildren, Susan Michael and husband, Jerry, Pattie Irene Edens and John F. Whiteside III and wife, Debbie; six stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Holland and wife, Carol; sister, Edna Earle Holland Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, LaVerne Davis Custard; grandson, Robert Ray; and sisters, Dollie Kornegay and Hilda Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, Lib requested memorials be given to the church of one's choice; Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or Gideons International, P.O. Box 10093, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
