JOAN BLIZZARD SMITH

Joan Blizzard Smith passed away Sunday morning, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, one day after her 67th birthday.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
Ms. Smith was born April 30, 1949 to the late Joseph and Melonese Owens Blizzard.
She is survived by one son, Brandon Jennings Smith (Danielle) of Pikeville; four daughters, Lisa Carter (Carl) of Snow Hill, Diane McLaurin of Goldsboro, Julie Aycock (Johnny) of Rosewood and Jessica Ham (Chris) of Eureka; two brothers, Buck Blizzard (Jackie) of Pikeville and Tommy Harrison (Tracy) of Rosewood; four sisters, Gayle Peele (Billy) of Goldsboro, Donnie Jones of Pikeville, Ann Potter (Charles) of Goldsboro and Billie Jo Nakaahiki (Tom Paxton) of Pikeville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ellen Blizzard; brother, Kenneth Blizzard, and two sisters, Gail Casey and Tami Hill.
The family will receive friends other times at the home of her son and wife, Brandon Jennings Smith and Danielle, 4604 U.S. Hwy. 117, Pikeville.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
