MARY "MARGIE" MENDELL

Mary Margaret “Margie” Mendell, 94, passed away Wednesday at Sutton’s Retirement Center.
Margie was born in Newport, Ky., to the late Allen Cleveland and Georgia DeMoss Shepard, and was wife of the late Jerome Mendell.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. Mallie Hinnant officiating.
Margie is survived by a son, Dr. E. Ron Mendell and wife, Sandra, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Brian Mendell and wife, Susan, of Greenville and Mark Mendell and wife, Angela, of Elizabethtown; stepgrandchildren, Chris Creech and wife, Teresa, of LaGrange and Cindy Creech Weeks and husband, David, of Goldsboro; and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Casey, and Catlin Mendell of Greenville, Lexie and Lorna Mendell of Elizabethtown, Ken and Daniel Weeks of Goldsboro and Luke Creech of LaGrange.
In addition to her husband and parents, Margie was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Mendell Harris and husband, Nathan; a great-granddaughter, Sueanna Harris; great-grandson, Trey Harris; and her first daughter-in-law, Sue Dotson Mendell.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Sutton’s Retirement Center for its kind and compassionate care for the past several years.
