CHARLES RAY COLETRAIN SR.

June 5, 1938-March 2, 2016

Wednesday afternoon, March 2, 2016, Charles Ray Coletrain Sr., 77, Goldsboro, moved to his heavenly home after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Charles loved the Lord and his family, and set a Christian example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

A service celebrating Charles' life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Bill Rose and the Rev. John Howard officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday immediately following the service at the church and other times at his home.

Interment will be at a later date in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.

Charles was born in Lenoir County June 5, 1938, to the late Perlie and Leona Bradford Coletrain.

He was a graduate of New Hope High School.

Charles was a truck driver his entire life, having worked for 18 years with Thurston Motor Lines, and he retired in 2001 after 25 years of service with Roadway Express.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Charles was a man known for his unconditional love for people shown by the abundance of hugs and kisses he gave. Anyone who met him was warmed by his love and affection. He was a gracious, kind and generous man, who cared about the souls of everyone.

He also had a rich love for the Lord. Charles was saved Sept. 7, 1975, and was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served as a church board member, as well as in the Judgement House ministry, where he built props and led lost souls to the Lord.

His relationship with the Lord was genuine. No challenge was too great, no soul too lost, no day too dark that Charles would not pour his whole heart into so they would know his Lord.

To know him, was to witness a rare blend of kindness, strength, generosity, wisdom, grace, humor and love. He will be remembered everyday.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Sandra Smith Coletrain; children, Kris Bartlett and husband, Rick, of Forest City, Teresa Moon of Goldsboro and Charles Coletrain Jr. of Goldsboro; stepdaughter, Glenda Potter of Goldsboro; brother, Perlie Coletrain Jr. and wife, Gloria, of Chillicothe, Ill.; and sisters, Carol Lane of Goldsboro and Betty Alexander and husband, Thomas, of Goldsboro.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Douglas Bartlett (Amanda), Brandy Bartlett, Thomas Bartlett, Amanda Bartlett, Megan King (Brandon Fowler), Blade Brown and Jade Brown, and his great-grandchildren, Caleb Fowler, Ashton Fowler, Grayson Fowler, Justin Rudisill and Brooklyn Sloan.

Special thanks to his wonderful neighbors, church friends and the nurses and doctors who cared for Charles and his family in so many kind and thoughtful ways in these past few months and during this time of loss.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the senior ministry at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www. seymourfuneralhome.com.
