L.H. 'BUD' GRANT

Jan. 22, 1942-Dec. 30, 2015

Luther Howard “Bud” Grant, 73, left this world to be with Jesus early Wednesday morning.

Bud was a beloved husband, father, papa and friend whose love for life and others was apparent to all who met him.

Bud was born in Greene County Jan. 22, 1942, to the late Luther and Beatrice Chase Grant.

His first and favorite occupation was a farmer, and many of his happiest times were spent atop one of his tractors on the family farm.

Bud had also served as a fireman with Shine Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods.

Bud was a longtime member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He was devoted to his church, served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and choir member and was involved in many activities, where he utilized his gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Bud had a wonderful sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously. He was a good friend and a great father and papa, and had a generous heart.

He provided a wonderful home for his family, and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike. Above all, he will be remembered as the proudest papa because he would attend all the baseball games, volleyball games, softball games, as well as the cross country meets, that his grandchildren would be a part of.

A service celebrating Bud’s life will be held Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at 4 p.m. in Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Danny Hamm officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service at the church and other times at his home.

Interment will be Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Snow Hill Cemetery.

Bud is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Coker Grant; children, Gina Grant Brann and husband, Russell, Todd Grant and wife, Deana, and Jill Grant and husband, Shane, and the apples of his eyes, his grandchildren, Alex Brann, Benjamin Brann, Jackson Grant, Mary Chase Grant, Harrison Grant, Hayden Grant and Arden Grant.

He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Grant; sisters, Lucille Smith, Eleanor Sutton, Christine Johnson, Edna Earle Newsome, Faye Taylor and Tania Weeks; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 145 Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill, N.C., 28580, or you may perform an act of kindness with Bud in mind.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
