Myde Smith Howell died Nov. 4, 2015.
She was the daughter of the late Hal G. and Ethel Worrell Smith, and the widow of James W. Howell Jr.
A memorial service for Mrs. Howell will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at First Christian Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Dr. Frederick W. Clarke presiding.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Private interment for the family will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Mrs. Howell retired in 1989 from W.H. Griffin and Sons, serving as secretary/treasurer for 30 years.
She had been a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ for more than 50 years.
She served as a clerical volunteer for WATCH for more than five years.
Mrs. Howell was predeceased by a son, Jim Howell of Wilmington.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Cathy Howell of Goldsboro, and by a daughter-in-law, Liz Howell of Wilmington.
She has three granddaughters, Melissa H. Gaddy and husband, Ben, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Anne H. Reed and husband, Andrew, of Raleigh and Meghan H. Long of Wilmington.
She also has eight great-grandchildren, Claire, J.T. and Caroline Gaddy, Davis and Avery Reed and Caleb, Parker and Matthew Long.
She also is survived by two sisters, Mary Pelt and Brenda Cox, and was predeceased by a sister, Shelby Christopher, and a brother, Harvey Smith.
