NORWOOD L. MILLS
Feb. 28, 1937-Aug. 24, 2015
Norwood Leonard Mills, 78, affectionately known by family and friends as "Pop," Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, from injuries he sustained in a fall.
Norwood was born in Wayne County Feb. 28, 1937, to the late Charles Street Mills and Catherine Kleinert Mills.
He owned and operated the family business, Statewide Land and Timber Co.
Pop was most comfortable outdoors in the woods cruising timber.
He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
Pop will always be remembered for his love of a good practical joke, whether done to him or by him, as well as his true love of family, friends, life and work. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife and friends.
Those of us who knew Pop weep at our loss, laugh with our remembrances and reflect deeply on how much he meant to us. He made our world a healthier and happier place.
A service celebrating Pop's life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will follow on the family farm in Taylor Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
