GLADYS S. TILTON
Oct. 31, 1925-June 28, 2015
Gladys Smith Tilton, 89, formerly of Goldsboro, passed away Sunday at Phoenix Assisted Living in Cary.
She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Leona Baker Smith, and was the wife of the late Harvey John Tilton.
Mrs. Gladys was a member of Clingman Street Church of God, and was the past president of Fairview Community Club.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mike Eddinger and the Rev. Denny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.
She is survived by a son, John Tilton of Cary; two daughters, Mary Tilton and Deborah Tilton both of Cary; two half-brothers, George Wade Smith of Goldsboro and Johnny Ray Smith of Mount Olive; a half-sister, Ava Faye Smith Olsone of North Carolina; a granddaughter, Dr. Elisabeth Tracy and husband, Dr. Joe Tracy, of Cary; a great-granddaughter, Mary Elisabeth Tracy of Cary; a special friend, Sue Tracy of Cary; and her beloved cat, Sunshine.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl William Smith; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Smith Best and Annie Rose Smith Lane; and a half-sister, Daisy Leona Smith Owens.
